PASTOR KENNETH L. BARNEY

Pastor Kenneth L. Barney and his high school sweetheart, Ellen P. Barney, have been happily married for fifty-three years.  God has blessed them with three children, Kenny Jr., Teresa, and Curtis, thirteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in April 1974.

Pastor Barney graduated from the Washington Bible College in Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pastoral Theology.  In addition, he graduated from the Capital Bible Seminary in Maryland with a Master of Arts in Theology and English Bible.  He has also completed courses in pastoral counseling at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.  In January 2005, Pastor Barney was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree by the National Clergy Council under the auspices of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church-USA.  In September 2014, he was unanimously voted into the Corporation of Lancaster Bible College and Seminary and honored to serve on the Board of Trustees of this outstanding institution.  He is the first African American to be appointed to the trustee position since its establishment in 1932.  Also, on June 30, 2022, the LifeBridge Health Nominating Sub-Committee recommended Pastor Barney to serve as an Elected Director of the Northwest Hospital Board of Directors.  He humbly accepted this position and is now an Elected Director on the Board.

Pastor Barney has been shepherding the New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, Maryland, formerly known as Oakcrest Community Baptist Church in Laurel, Maryland, for the past forty-four years.  He initiated, promoted, and continues to serve on the New Antioch’s Street Evangelism Ministry, Men’s Ministries, and teaches Discipleship Training Classes.

Pastor Barney delivered the keynote address at the 7th Annual National Memorial for the Pre-Born sponsored by the National Clergy Council of the National Pro-Life Religious Council held at the U.S. Senate Russell Building.  In October 2004, he traveled to Morocco with a U.S. Delegation invited by King Mohammed VI.  The Delegation participated in a Muslim-Evangelical Christian dialogue with Moroccan heads of government, university students, and others.  Pastor Barney was the only African American representative in the Delegation.  The purpose was to develop friendships between the Muslim community in Morocco and the Christian community in the United States.  He is also an alumnus of the 2008 “Oxford Round Table” held at the University of Oxford, England.  He was honored to participate as a “Discussion Leader” in the Round Table Discussion segment.
Although Pastor Barney loves and honors the Lord in his stewardship as a pastor, another of his deepest passions is evangelism. He enjoys sharing the Gospel nationally and internationally with everyone he encounters.  Additionally, the Lord has led Pastor Barney to write two books, The Visitor and Bouncing Back, for which he has received an excellent response from readers.
As a born-again believer and a man of God for over forty-nine years, Pastor Barney’s primary goal is to honor the Lord Jesus Christ daily by living his life in a way that will bring glory to God by sharing the Gospel.  He has consistently loved the Lord and His people.  He is thankful to God for the opportunity to be His servant. Pastor Barney’s life verse is Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
