Our Pastor

PastorsPassageFor more than 45 years, Pastor Kenneth L. Barney has been happily married to his high school sweetheart, Ellen P. Barney. Pastor and First Lady Barney have three loving children:  Curtis, Teresa, and Kenneth Jr.

They are also the proud grandparents of twelve children. In April 1974, Pastor Barney accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as his personal savior and began following Christ.

Pastor Kenneth L. Barney

Pastor Barney graduated from the Washington Bible College in Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Theology. He also received a Master of Arts degree in Theology and English Bible from the Capital Bible Seminary in oval_washington_bible_collegeMaryland. A true scholar of God’s word, he has also completed training in pastoral counseling at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2005, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity by the National Clergy Council.

For the past thirty-six years, Pastor Barney has led the New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown in Maryland (formerly known as the Oakcrest Community Baptist Church). He initiated, promoted, and serves in New Antioch’s street evangelism, prison ministries, and men’s retreat.

In addition to the domestic outreach and spiritual movement that God has led him to launch, Pastor Barney has also ministered abroad. In October 2004, Pastor Barney traveled to Morocco with a U.S. delegation invited by King Mohammed VI. They participated in a Muslim-Evangelical Christian dialogue with Moroccan heads of government, university students, and many others. Pastor Barney was the only African-American representative in the delegation, which aimed to develop friendship between the Muslim community in Morocco and the Christian community of the United States. He is also an alumnus of the 2008 “Oxford Round Table” held at the University of Oxford, England – where he had the distinguished honor of participating as a “Discussion Leader.”

Although Pastor Barney loves and honors the Lord in his stewardship as pastor, one of his deepest passions is evangelism. Pastor Barney shares the Gospel nationally and internationally with whomever God brings him into contact.

The Lord has led Pastor Barney to author two books, The Visitor and Bouncing Back, which have been well received by readers. His own life verse, from the greatest book – the Holy Bible – is as follows:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
